The Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Persis Namuganza officially closed the Homes and Gardeners Expo 2026 at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel yesterday.
She reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector to accelerate affordable housing and sustainable urban development.
The two-day Expo, held from 5th–6th September under the theme “Access to Sustainable and Quality Living,” brought together government officials, developers, financial institutions, manufacturers, built-environment professionals and prospective homeowners.
In her closing address, the Minister commended Eco Eco Housing Solutions Africa for (EHS) for sustaining the Expo Expo for 20 editions and creating a credible platform for dialogue, innovation, investment and consumer education.
“The Government recognises that Uganda’s housing and urbanisation challenges cannot be addressed by the public sector alone. We are willing and ready to work with credible private-sector partners to deliver affordable housing, modern infrastructure and well-planned, sustainable communities,” the Minister said.
Dr. Edwin Musiime, Group Managing Director of EHS and Convener of the Urbanisation Forum, said Uganda must treat urbanisation as an investment opportunity requiring deliberate planning and coordinated action.
“Urbanisation is not simply about the growth of towns; it is about transforming how people live, work, move and access opportunity. We must bring government, financiers, developers, innovators and communities together to build tomorrow’s cities today,” Dr. Musiime said.
He added that the Expo would continue serving as a marketplace for housing solutions while supporting the wider Urbanisation Forum agenda through regional stakeholder engagements, practical city interventions and strategic partnerships.
The Minister officially declared the Expo closed and called for the ideas and partnerships generated to be translated into measurable housing and urban-development projects.
