Absa reinforced its commitment to financing Africa’s growth and development during the recently concluded 16th UK–Africa Investment Summit 2026 in London.
As a Summit partner, Absa contributed to high-level conversations on mobilising capital, strengthening cross-border trade and developing financial solutions capable of moving viable African projects from concept to execution.
Held under the theme, “Trade Corridors and Industrial Platforms: From Access to Production,” the Summit convened government leaders, investors, banks, development finance institutions, manufacturers and project sponsors from the United Kingdom, Africa, India and the Middle East.
Discussions highlighted the central role of financial institutions in supporting infrastructure, agriculture, manufacturing, mineral value addition, housing, real estate and sustainable urbanisation. Participants also examined the need for stronger trade-finance systems, digital payment platforms and innovative funding models for businesses and major development projects.
David Wandera, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Absa Bank Uganda, said the bank remains committed to supporting investments that deliver sustainable economic and social value.
“Africa possesses tremendous opportunities across infrastructure, trade, agriculture, manufacturing, energy and the digital economy. Absa is committed to connecting businesses and viable projects with appropriate financial solutions, strategic advice and regional networks. Our objective is to facilitate investment, enable enterprise growth and contribute meaningfully to Africa’s long-term economic transformation,” Wandera said.
Dr. Edwin Musiime, Group Managing Director of Eco Housing Solutions Africa, commended Absa for supporting the Summit and contributing to Africa’s investment agenda.
“Absa’s partnership with the Summit reflects the important role financial institutions must play in transforming Africa’s potential into productive growth. Banks must go beyond conventional lending to become strategic partners in financing infrastructure, housing, industrialisation, agriculture and sustainable enterprises,” Dr. Musiime said.
He added that Absa possesses the experience, regional reach and financial capability required to help unlock projects that create employment, strengthen businesses and improve communities.
The Summit generated new opportunities for investor engagement, financial partnerships and cross-border cooperation. Absa’s participation reaffirmed the importance of strong banking partners in building commercially competitive businesses, resilient economies and sustainable prosperity across Africa.
